Where Creative Possibilities Take Shape

SHEIN-UAS Bursary

Every creative idea begins with possibility.

An idea taking shape. A material waiting to be explored. A different way of seeing something familiar. Turning that first spark into a creative practice takes more than inspiration. It takes time, space to experiment and the resources to keep making. That is why support matters from the start.

In 2023, SHEIN partnered with UAS to set up the SHEIN-UAS Bursary, supported through a S$5 million endowment donation. The Bursary provides S$5,000 per academic year to students who are pursuing fashion and design-related disciplines at LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). The Bursary has since supported 72 students, giving these emerging creatives greater freedom to pursue their creative interests, experiment with new ideas and develop their practice.

The partnership also provides opportunities for industry exposure through mentorship, professional attachments and potential employment pathways, helping students build industry connections and explore where their skills might take them in the future.

By widening access to art and design education, the SHEIN-UAS Bursary benefits individual students while contributing to Singapore’s evolving creative ecosystem. Investing in the next generation of creatives is not only about what they can create today, but also about enabling students with new ideas, practices and possibilities to flourish in the years ahead.
